By-Laws
On October 16th and 17th of 1999 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, dedicated Latino leaders from throughout New Jersey gathered together to shape , design and structure a new organization capable of transforming our Latino communities into a powerful force capable of developing statewide initiatives for the benefit of all. That initial group of Latinos, ranging from seasoned and mature leaders to dynamic and youthful “soon to become” leaders, bound together our mutual strength and set aside our differences to create an organization that reflected our true nature: a real Alliance of Latino leaders. Mission

In 1999, four hundred Latino leaders from diverse organizations across the State of New Jersey convened a conference at Rutgers University that concluded in the creation of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey.  As a non-partisan, non-exclusive organization, our diverse constituency is bound together by mutual strengths and common goals.  Only in this way may we ensure that LLANJ plays a part in cultivating our next generation of Latino leaders.
Members of LLANJ join together to create one voice for Latinos in New Jersey.  In representing Latino parents, primary and secondary educators, community leaders, law enforcement, health care professionals, religious leaders, immigrant groups, student leaders and business professionals, we recognize how our various needs interconnect and work as a collective unit to shape the role of Latinos in New Jersey.

Vision & Empowerment Plan

In 1999 four hundred Latino leaders from diverse organizations across the State of New Jersey convened a conference at Rutgers University that concluded in the creation of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey (LLANJ). The mission of LLANJ is:

• To mobilize and empower Latino communities to obtain political, economic, and social equity.
• To unify organizations and individuals in advocating for the rights of Latinos throughout the state of New Jersey.

To carry out the mission a Board of Delegates was elected and various working committees were formed. “The Vision” presented here is a product of the work of the committees and the deliberations of the Board of Delegates.
